Turkey Comes and Goes at Will on Goris-Varotan, Goris-Shurnukh Roads, Says Hovsepyan

“The Turks come and go at will on the Goris-Varotan and Goris-Shurnukh roads, doing whatever they please. They travel freely by car without any obstacles,” said Menua Hovsepyan, the Deputy Mayor of Goris, in a statement to Factinfo, refuting claims by the Prime Minister that a specific security assurance system is in place in Syunik.

Hovsepyan stated that it is apparent there are security concerns, as they are unable to manage the movements of the Azerbaijani side. While he acknowledged that no incidents have yet occurred, he believes that this situation is temporary.

Currently, they are attempting to address several issues through Russian intermediaries, avoiding direct contact with the Azerbaijanis. As the Deputy Mayor noted, negotiations and discussions are conducted exclusively with the Russian side, seeking to mitigate the enemy's unlawful behavior through their assistance.

When asked whether this approach is effective, Hovsepyan replied, “I can't say it's 100% effective. For now, it works mostly, but if Iskander doesn’t fire, it may not work anymore,” he remarked, taking a jab at Prime Minister Pashinyan.
