The Content of the Phone Conversation with Tiran Khachatryan Distorted in an Article Published on Yerevan.today: Ministry of Defense Clarification
An article was published on Yerevan.today on February 24, discussing the name of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Lieutenant General Tiran Khachatryan.
The Ministry of Defense released a statement noting that during a phone conversation with a representative of this media outlet, Lieutenant General Tiran Khachatryan stated that such topics should not be discussed, and conclusions should not be drawn. After this, the journalist quoted Colonel-General Movses Hakobyan's assessment, suggesting that it might be possible, which led to Tiran Khachatryan's laughter.
“The journalist evidently did not fully represent and, in fact, distorted the content of the phone conversation, creating misunderstandings among readers, which can be classified as an information provocation. We once again urge representatives of the media and citizens to refrain from discussions related to the military sector, as they can cause significant harm to the Armed Forces and the security of our country,” the statement read.
It is worth noting that earlier, Yerevan.today had published an interview with Tiran Khachatryan, which specifically mentioned that the Deputy Chief of the General Staff laughed upon hearing about Iskander's 10 percent probability of firing and added that it was not serious.
