Pashinyan Declares Russian Iskanders Inoperable

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has stated that Russian Iskander operational-tactical missile systems are inoperable, according to Lenta.ru, referencing an interview Pashinyan gave to 1in.am.

In his response, Pashinyan addressed former President Serge Sargsyan, who had claimed that Iskander would have been used during the fourth day of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. Sargsyan also questioned why no strikes were carried out on Azerbaijan's oil infrastructure using Iskanders. In turn, Pashinyan said that the Russian missiles are "not fit for use" and do not explode completely.

It is important to recall that in his interview with 1in.am, Nikol Pashinyan commented on the statements made by the third President of Armenia, Serge Sargsyan, expressing surprise as to why the Iskander was not used on the third or fourth day of the war. Pashinyan remarked, "That hint may also be directed at me, but I believe that those who have been rejected should know the answers to many questions and not pose questions to which they know the answers. Perhaps they should answer why the fired Iskander (the missile) did not explode or exploded at, for instance, 10 percent efficacy." In response to a question about whether this ever happens, Pashinyan commented, "I don't know: was it perhaps the equipment from the 1980s?"
