Kyiv's Hostomel Airport is the Antonov Firm's Flight-Experimental Center, Which Does Not Service Boeing-Type Aircraft, Says H. Chagharyan on Fly Armenia Airways' Statement

I read the information from Fly Armenia Airways stating that their aircraft took off from Tallinn to Kyiv's Hostomel Airport for technical maintenance, and for unknown reasons ended up in Tehran. This was reported by former advisor to the Prime Minister of Armenia and aviator Hakob Chagharyan on his Facebook page.

Chagharyan presented the distance between Kyiv and Tehran according to the professional program travelmath, adding that the direct distance is 2346 km: 'Not more, not less. And the flight time is 3 hours and 25 minutes. Straight line. And according to the airline, did the aircraft pass through that territory without mandatory clearances from transit countries, without a previously declared flight plan?'

He added, 'I should mention that Kyiv's Hostomel Airport serves as the flight-experimental center of the Antonov firm, which does not service Boeing-type aircraft. I just had a phone conversation with a senior official from the Antonov concern. According to him, at least, Boeing aircraft servicing is not carried out at the airport. And the Civil Aviation Committee is still conducting an 'investigation' on the fourth day...'

It should be noted that earlier, Suren Sargsyan, head of the Armenian Center for American Studies and a political scientist, mentioned on his Facebook page that for still unspecified reasons, an American-made Boeing 737 aircraft registered in Armenia has ended up in Iran. The topic was also addressed by former Prime Minister's advisor on aviation issues, Hakob Chagharyan, who noted that the aircraft which took off from Tallinn was supposed to land in Yerevan, but ended up in Tehran due to a 'technical failure.'

In response to this, the Civil Aviation Committee issued a statement saying that no confirmed information on the hijacking of the Boeing 737-type aircraft has been received and that they are aware of its location. Later, Fly Armenia Airways issued a statement indicating that the Boeing 737-300 aircraft was supposed to fly from Estonia to Ukraine's Hostomel Airport but made an emergency landing for unknown reasons.
