Defense Ministry Does Not Comment on Pashinyan's Remarks about Unexploded 'Iskanders'
The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has not commented on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements regarding the unexploded or 10 percent detonated 'Iskander' tactical missiles. This was stated by Gevorg Altyunyan, the head of the Ministry’s information and public relations department, during a conversation with media representatives.
It is noteworthy that the day before, Pashinyan, in an interview with 1in.am, addressing the accusations from former President Serzh Sargsyan regarding the failure to use the 'Iskanders' in a timely manner during the 44-day war, stated that Sargsyan 'knows the answers to his questions.'
'Let him ask why the 'Iskander' did not explode, or why it exploded, for example, 10 percent,' Pashinyan said.
In response to a clarifying question from a journalist about whether it was really the case, Pashinyan replied, 'I don't know, maybe it is weapons from the 80s.'
It is also noteworthy that the former Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Movses Hakobyan, was the first to announce the use of 'Iskanders.' In November 2020, he stated that 'Iskanders' were used in the last days of the war.
