Criminal Case to be Initiated for Obstructing Journalist's Activities by Government MPs
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction has overturned the decision of the Investigative Committee investigator to reject the initiation of a criminal case regarding the obstruction of journalist Karine Mangasyan's professional activities at 5th Channel TV.
This information was shared by lawyer Irma Jagharyan on her Facebook page: “Today, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Anna Matevosyan, granted the appeal filed by myself and Aram Vardevanyan against the decision of the Investigative Committee investigator to refuse the initiation of a criminal case concerning the obstruction of journalist Karine Mangasyan's professional activities. The court has canceled that decision.”
The case refers to a widely circulated video during wartime, in which Kristine Poghosyan and Arthur Hovhannisyan, clearly violating parliamentary ethics, made threats towards journalist Karine Mangasyan, who was performing her duties in the National Assembly of Armenia. They stated, “Once all this is over, you will all answer one by one; you will see what happens to you,” and pushed Mangasyan's microphone away.
