I Will Be the First to Visit Azerbaijan as Prime Minister: Garibashvili
The candidate for the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, stated that he will be the first to visit Azerbaijan in his capacity as Prime Minister. He mentioned that he has a "very good relationship" with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and believes they will be able to find common ground on the issue of border demarcation.
According to Aliq.ge, Garibashvili said, "Azerbaijan is our very close friend, a strategic partner country led by the wise leader Mr. Aliyev, with whom I have a very good relationship. One of my first visits will probably be to Azerbaijan. We will engage in dialogue with our brother country, Azerbaijan. I believe that Mr. Aliyev and our friendly Azerbaijani side will make wise decisions, and we will also make wise decisions. We will be able to negotiate and find a common language. This will not be difficult for us."
It is worth noting that recently tensions have arisen around the Georgian-Azerbaijani border, and there are disputed areas in the demarcation process, including the location of the David Gareja Monastery complex.
