VIDEO: NASA's Rover Lands on the Red Planet
The American rover Perseverance has entered Mars' atmosphere, NASA reports, as they comment on the event live.
The rover successfully landed in the Jezero crater. The landing was performed autonomously, as it takes 11 minutes for signals to travel from Earth to the rover, and the same time for a return signal.
The rover entered Mars' atmosphere at 00:49 Yerevan time, and a few minutes later, at 00:55, it reached the planet's surface. "We confirm that Perseverance has landed on Mars. The probe is transmitting signals," reported the Flight Control Center. This announcement was met with applause at NASA's office.
