Syunik is in Danger: Surik Khachatryan Issues Statement
Former governor of Syunik, Surik Khachatryan, has issued a statement in which he particularly states:
“Dear residents of Syunik and my compatriots living in Yerevan, Syunik is in danger, it is being handed over piece by piece to our age-old enemy. Under the hand of a traitorous government, certain parts of Artsakh have been given to the Azerbaijanis, and if we do not stand against this vile deal, very soon the entire Syunik will fall under their control.
We all know that the enemy's greatest dream is to see Syunik within Azerbaijan. But we have no homeland to give them. We must fight for our land and water, our mountains and stones.
This government will continue to gradually lose the land of our ancestors; the graves of our forefathers will be desecrated, and the essence of the Armenian, especially that of Syunik, will be destroyed.
On February 20, we have the opportunity to turn a disgraceful page in our history. On February 20, by joining the struggle, we can prove our unity and preserve our fragmented homeland.
Dear precious residents of Syunik living all over Armenia, I believe you will hear my plea and will join the march for the fight at 15:00 on February 20, for the sake of Syunik, for the sake of our homeland, for the sake of our martyred heroes.
My compatriots, unite, self-organize, and raise your voice in the fight in Syunik as well. Remember, if we do not fight together against this evil, we will lose the territories that barely survived in Artsakh, Syunik, and all of Armenia.
I urge our compatriots living in Armenia and the diaspora to stand by the side of the people of Syunik and not leave them alone in the fight against the Turk and the traitor.”
