Blizzard, Black Ice, Closed Roads: Current Conditions on Armenian Roads
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed roadways within the territory of Armenia. The Berd-Chambarak road, the Vardenyats Pass (which is experiencing a blizzard), and the roads from the 'Amberd' high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and to K'ari Lake are closed.
The Dilijan bends in Tavush Province and the Gyumri-Bavra road in Shirak Province are closed for trucks with trailers and are difficult to navigate for other vehicles. The Bagratashen-Noyemberyan road is closed for cargo vehicles. The Spitak bends in Lori Province and inter-community roads in Shirak Province, including Ashotzk and Amasia, are also difficult to navigate.
In the roads of Shirak and Tavush Provinces, there are spots of black ice. Snow is falling in various regions, including the Saravan-Zanger section, in Ararat, Armavir, Kotayk provinces, Dilijan in Tavush Province, Vanadzor in Lori Province, Aparan, Artashat in Aragatsotn Province, Gavar, Sevan in Gegharkunik Province, Jermuk in Vayots Dzor Province, and the area known as 'Meghru Sar' in Syunik Province (experiencing a blizzard).
Due to the heavy snowfall in Tavush, Gegharkunik, Aragatsotn, and Shirak Provinces, it is advised to travel only when absolutely necessary. There is fog in the Spitak bends of Lori Province and in the city of Goris in Syunik Province. Blizzard conditions continue in the Aragats region of Aragatsotn, in Aparan city, and in the regions of Amasia and Ashotzk in Shirak Province.
