Video: The Trump Plaza 39-Story Casino Demolished in the USA

In Atlantic City, New Jersey, the Trump Plaza, a 39-story casino, has been destroyed via a controlled explosion. This decision is not linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump, as the casino has been closed since 2014, at which time plans for its demolition were made.

However, the demolition was not without its symbolism. City authorities, where the majority support the Democrats, even auctioned off the right to press the detonator button. Yet, they eventually had to cancel the idea due to protests from the former owner of the building.

The Trump Plaza hotel and casino opened in 1984 and has served as a venue for several notable boxing matches. Trump sold all his real estate in the city in 2009, but continued to earn income from the use of his name.
