Tents Removed from Republic Square

Tents Removed from Republic Square

The tents of the Homeland Salvation Movement have been "dismantled" from Republic Square. This was reported by Arsen Babayan, the former deputy head of the National Assembly staff.

“We will soon clear the area and a decisive new phase of struggle will begin,” he wrote.

It is noteworthy that the tents were set up in the square on December 22. The police had several times urged the removal of the tents, but they remained in Republic Square until today.

In a statement, the police noted that the installation of tents for the purpose of holding a gathering is considered incompatible with the historical and cultural significance of the area adjacent to historical and cultural monuments, and their use is deemed to degrade the artistic value of that place, as long as there is no agreement from the competent state body regarding the installation of tents or the use of other items for a specific gathering.
