Japan to Provide $3.6 Million in Support to Armenia
The government of Japan has decided to provide $3.6 million in assistance to Armenia on February 16, aimed at overcoming the humanitarian crisis following the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. As reported by Armenpress, this information is confirmed by the official website of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the government decision, the support will be directed towards improving the living standards of the population, renovating shelters, and upgrading medical equipment. Assistance will also be provided through the offices of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
As part of the aid to Armenia, the plan specifically includes conducting medical preparedness training in six hospitals and healthcare facilities, renovating three evacuation shelters, supplying medical equipment to 17 medical institutions, renovating 15 schools, providing educational supplies, and more.
