Turkish Hackers Attack Website of MEP Critical of Erdoğan
Europarliament member and former rapporteur on Turkey, Kati Piri, along with the official websites of the Netherlands' Labour Party (PvdA) she is affiliated with, have come under attack from Turkish hackers. As a result, the websites were unavailable for several hours, reports ermenihaber.
The Labour Party reported that the attack originated from abroad. Piri has stated that the assault was carried out by Turkish hackers. The MEP describes the attack on her and her party's websites as "unprecedented and concerning."
Piri believes the attack is related to her recent speech to students at Boğaziçi University, as well as calls for support for Selahattin Demirtaş, former co-chair of Turkey's opposition pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), and businessman Osman Kavala, who has been imprisoned for an extended period. She took to Twitter to demand their release and asserted that she would continue to fight for the establishment of democracy in Turkey.
