Sevan Cleansed from Illegal Constructions, Iron Shacks and Pavilions

Sevan Cleansed from Illegal Constructions, Iron Shacks and Pavilions

The process of dismantling illegal buildings, pavilions, and walls, as well as cleaning the area from debris, continues in the coastal areas under the jurisdiction of the "Sevan" National Park.

Environment Minister Romanos Petrosyan noted on his Facebook page that at this stage, illegal constructions located below the 1901.5 meter mark, walls of recreation areas, unfinished stone structures, iron shacks, and pavilions are being dismantled.

According to the Minister, the work is currently being carried out at Sevan's public beach, the coastal areas adjacent to the beach leading towards the peninsula, and the lakeshore areas near Sevan’s marina.

Ensuring the integrity of the water resources in Lake Sevan and its catchment basin, as well as the preservation of its flora and fauna and ecological sub-systems, are crucially important through proper management of activities in the coastal areas and the dismantling of illegal structures. Significant work is underway; however, the scale of these efforts is also dependent on the insufficient capacity of the "Sevan" National Park’s own capabilities. We have already initiated the process of expanding and strengthening these capacities; soon new equipment will be acquired, which will accelerate the efforts to bring the lake's coastal areas into an appropriate condition and establish order,” the head of the agency wrote.
