I Gave Power to Karen Karapetyan, Not to Them: Serzh Sargsyan
The third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, addressed the political changes that took place in 2018 during an interview today. In response to the question of why he so easily ceded the position of the country's leader to Nikol Pashinyan, Sargsyan stated, “First of all, I must say that in my opinion, there is a direct connection; in essence, what happened in the spring of 2018 was an anti-Artsakh movement, not only anti-Artsakh but also against the people of Artsakh. A situation arose in which I preferred to leave without a hitch rather than attempt to propose one of multiple solutions to the public. I have never agreed with the notion that I handed over power to them. No, first I handed power to Karen Karapetyan. I understand that people have the right to form their own opinions that I handed power to these (referring to Pashinyan and his team),” said Sargsyan.
