Around 35-40 Thousand Artsakh Residents Are in the Republic of Armenia, says Artak Beglaryan
According to the calculations of the Office of the President of the Republic of Artsakh, there are currently 105-110 thousand Artsakh residents living in Artsakh, while around 35-40 thousand are still in the Republic of Armenia. This was stated by Artak Beglaryan, Head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Artsakh, during a discussion held on February 15, as reported by Armenpress.
“Based on our calculations, there are currently 105-110 thousand Artsakh residents in Artsakh, which means that around 35-40 thousand are located in the Republic of Armenia, the overwhelming majority of whom are displaced persons. A part of them, perhaps no more than 10 thousand, are individuals who have decided individually not to return home,” noted Beglaryan.
As a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, approximately 10 thousand individuals have been left homeless and are currently accommodated in various shelters with state support.
“The number of individuals accommodated in the Republic of Artsakh is about 10 thousand, who are living in state-organized facilities such as hotels and guesthouses, or are renting with state assistance. They have also settled in the available housing stock in different villages, while efforts are underway to increase the housing stock,” highlighted Artak Beglaryan.
The Head of the Office of the President of Artsakh emphasized that the priority for the state is to encourage the return of Artsakh residents.
