We Are Amazed Why We Have Lost: There Is No State System, No Structure in Its Place – Gayane Abrahamyan
The horrific death of a two-year-old child amidst this profound pain has once again highlighted the fundamental question of the non-existence and inaction of state structures and all chains involved. This was stated by Gayane Abrahamyan, a former member of the ‘My Step’ faction of the National Assembly, on her Facebook page.
The post is as follows:
“On February 6, the stepfather, unable to cope with and tolerate the sound of the infant's cries, deliberately intending to unlawfully take the life of the child, struck the child's head hard around 8:00 PM, causing the child to become weak and fall onto the couch. Subsequently, covering the child with the couch's cover, he struck the child's head and back with his fist three to four more times. Afterward, grabbing the child by the clothing around the nape, he forced the child into the washing machine, continuing to deliver heavy blows to the child's head, as a result of which the child died the following day, on February 7.”
Amidst this profound pain, the horrific death of a two-year-old child has once again brought to light the fundamental issue of the non-existence and inaction of state structures and all chains involved. The mayor, who is also the chair of the Guardianship and Trusteeship Commission, was not aware of the child's existence. It was his direct duty to know about the child and protect them. The child is two years old; according to law enforcement, the mother is 19, and it is presumed that she gave birth at 17. The birth of a minor should not go unnoticed, and all other chains should have been diligent regarding the child's registration and other matters, but the child was a minor needle that no one in any chain was aware of. Now we are surprised as to why we have lost or are still assigning blame. There is no state system, and no structure is in its place; this is the problem, which not only was not resolved after the revolution but also became much more ineffective.
I will remain silent on the other side of the issue; the fact that we have been fighting against domestic violence for more than a whole decade and have been labeled as traitors to the nation who destroy families, etc. There is no domestic violence, and state structures should not enter families; a two-year-old child should somehow protect themselves. This is who we are: eyes closed to problems and preferring to live in pathetic lies.
