Criminal Case Initiated Following Death of 30-Year-Old Resident of Goris
On February 12, 2021, at 02:20 AM, a report was received from the Goris division of the Armenian Police to the Goris investigative department of the Syunik regional investigative committee regarding a death in one of the houses in Goris. It was reported that there was a body of a 30-year-old resident born in 1991, which had a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators from the aforementioned investigative department were dispatched to the scene and conducted an examination. According to preliminary data, on February 12, 2021, around 01:30 AM, the 30-year-old resident of Goris allegedly committed suicide by firing his illegally possessed AK-type rifle at his jaw while in his bedroom.
On the same day, a criminal case was initiated in the Goris investigative department of the Syunik regional investigative committee under Article 110 (Driving to Suicide) and Article 235 (Acquisition, Sale, Storage, Transportation, or Carrying of Illegally Obtained Weapons, Ammunition, Explosive Materials, or Explosive Devices) of the Armenian Criminal Code.
The scene was examined, and the AK-type rifle was found with the safety in the fire position, containing one bullet in the magazine. Evidence from the gunshot, clothing, and witness testimonies were collected, and a forensic examination of the body has been ordered. The investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case.
