Armenian Authorities to Address the Issue of Garakayin Nzhdeh Statue Removal, Says Taron Simonian
We have no room for concessions, said Taron Simonian, a member of the "Enlightened Armenia" parliamentary faction, while commenting on discussions regarding the removal of the Garakayin Nzhdeh statue in Artsakh due to Azerbaijani-Turkish demands.
"No nation, state, except for Armenia and Artsakh, apart from the Armenian people, has the right to decide on matters related to our cultural distinctiveness. Furthermore, the right to self-determination of nations also implies cultural self-determination," the MP remarked.
He also informed that he has spoken with the local authorities in Artsakh on this topic. Simonian stated that the authorities in Artsakh will make a statement indicating that the issue will receive a logical solution, and the dignity of the Armenian nation will not be undermined.
