We are working with Azerbaijani and Armenian colleagues on the return of prisoners. Zakharova
Russia is working with Baku and Yerevan to return Armenian prisoners to their homeland. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova during a weekly press briefing.
According to her, Russia continues to consider the optimal solution for the issue of prisoners to be the application of the principle of 'all for all'. She emphasized that this is Russia's position, as mentioned by both the president and the head of the foreign ministry.
“We are working with both Armenian and Azerbaijani colleagues, including in the direction of deploying Russian peacekeeping personnel in the conflict zone. Recently, another exchange of prisoners took place through the mediation of the commander of the Russian peacekeeping force, where one Azerbaijani and five Armenians returned home,” said Zakharova.
It should be noted that there are no official data regarding the number of Armenian prisoners remaining in Azerbaijan since the 44-day war in Artsakh. Since the trilateral statement was made on November 9, a total of 69 Armenian prisoners, including civilians, have returned home.
