Presence of Azerbaijani Armed Forces in Syunik Must be Excluded, Says Tatoyan
The presence of Azerbaijani armed forces (as well as flags and signs) in the communities of Syunik Province and on the roads connecting these communities must be excluded, and that is final. Their presence constitutes a gross violation of the rights of peaceful residents and soldiers of Armenia and Artsakh, involving ethnic cleansing, mass destruction of peaceful settlements, ongoing institutional hatred towards Armenians, torture, inhumane treatment, illegal detention of prisoners, and continuing threats of a new war, all carried out through mechanical approaches that grossly violate international norms concerning the ‘determination’ of borders.
The presence of Azerbaijani military personnel continues to grossly infringe upon the rights of the border residents of Armenia or seriously endanger them (property violations, gunfire, etc.), disrupting peaceful life and tranquility. Therefore, regardless of the circumstances, their presence or any movement is illegal, devoid of any legal title, and contradicts the foundations of human rights in international law.
The activities of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia are carried out on all platforms precisely with this fundamental framework in mind. This is stated in the announcement made by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan.
