No Need to Search for Contradictions or Inconsistencies with Legal Acts: NSS Clarification

In a clarification regarding the awareness works on February 10, 2021, concerning certain areas of the Syunik Province of the Republic of Armenia, we state that it does not aim to hinder professional activities of journalists or to request permission from the National Security Service of Armenia. Naturally, the published text should not be interpreted as having contradictions or inconsistencies with legal acts.

This is reported by the NSS.

The purpose of the awareness notification is solely to organize necessary filming in a coordinated manner in line with the operational situation, security considerations, and the specific activities being carried out on-site.

We also find it necessary to inform that even during the period preceding the publication of this notification, proper support has been provided to any journalist in Syunik Province, at any time of the week, without prior notice, from the National Security Service of Armenia, ensuring accompaniment by representatives of the NSS border guard troops.

We emphasize that the circumstance of coordinating relevant activities significantly stems from the effectiveness and security of journalistic work, and we urge to refrain from unnecessary speculations.
