We Just Met Vahan Badassian at the NSS Detention Center with My Colleague Iveta Tonoyan

NA BHK faction MP Naira Zohrabyan wrote on her Facebook page: "Vahan Badassian is a political prisoner. We just met with Vahan Badassian at the NSS detention center with my colleague Iveta Tonoyan, who was arrested by the court for threatening to kill Nikol Pashinyan with a weapon.

The judge justified the detention by stating that Vahan Badassian, a native of Hadrut, does not have a permanent residence. Perhaps no one informed this judge, who made such an exclusive decision, that 75 percent of Artsakh was de jure handed over to the Turks on November 10, and that Vahan Badassian’s native Hadrut was among them.

My colleagues from the Prosperous Armenia party, as well as independent MPs Arman Babajanyan and Sofia Hovsepyan, have submitted a motion to lift Vahan Badassian's detention, but in this case, such a motion shouldn’t even have been necessary. Vahan Badassian, who participated in all the wars in Artsakh, has been fighting against the Bayraktars since the very first day of the last war, has sustained serious injuries, and it is clear, even to the naked eye, that the injury he sustained is incompatible with detention.

Vahan is supposed to undergo another complex surgery in March, and keeping a person with such serious injuries in custody is clearly torture according to all international conventions, which I have already reported to international human rights organizations. Vahan Badassian is a prisoner of war and should be freed immediately."
