US Senate Declares Trump's Impeachment Constitutional
The US Senate has deemed the impeachment process of former President Donald Trump to be constitutional. The session began with discussions on whether it is constitutional to consider the matter after the leader's departure from office.
According to the voting results, 56 senators agreed that the impeachment procedures align with the country’s fundamental law, while 44 legislators voted against it. The process will continue today as well.
For the former president’s impeachment in the Senate, 67 votes are needed. This marks the first instance in US history where the impeachment process is initiated after a president has left office.
