H3N2 Subtype A Influenza Viruses Detected in Armenia

Laboratory tests conducted on samples taken in 2021 as part of epidemiological surveillance for influenza have revealed the presence of rhinovirus, bocavirus, and H3N2 subtype A influenza viruses. This information has been provided by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

The best and most effective way to prevent seasonal influenza is through vaccination, which has been available and in use for decades.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the prevention of acute respiratory infections, including seasonal influenza, has become particularly important. It is noteworthy that all polyclinics across the country are stocked with seasonal influenza vaccines, and all individuals in at-risk groups who have not yet received their seasonal influenza vaccination can approach their registered polyclinic for vaccination.

Vaccinations are administered on a voluntary basis free of charge within the framework of state orders, prioritizing at-risk groups such as pregnant women, children aged 6 months to 5 years, individuals over 65, those with diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, cardiovascular system diseases, liver, and kidney conditions, healthcare workers, military personnel, individuals in closed institutions, and service staff. Vaccination is also available for other segments of the population.

The Ministry once again urges those who have not yet been vaccinated against seasonal influenza to visit a polyclinic and get vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones.
