Armenian Authorities Do Not Rule Out Operation of Amulsar Mine, Minister Says
The Armenian authorities do not rule out the operation of the Amulsar mine. This was stated by Suren Papikyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, during a session of the National Assembly while responding to questions from lawmakers.
According to him, the current aim of the authorities is to create conditions for additional investments, particularly in the mining industry. He explained, "It is necessary to review the possibilities for overcoming existing issues and to make necessary decisions. If these decisions align with the interests of Armenia, then they could imply the possibility of operating Amulsar as well."
Addressing the questions regarding ecology, the minister noted that only balanced decisions, which are in the interests of Armenia, will be undertaken.
