Yerevan Deputy Mayor Explains Issues with Kindergarten Admissions

Changes in the organization of kindergarten attendance in the city may occur in the near future. Vice Mayor Gayane Melkonyan stated this during a Q&A session following the Yerevan City Council meeting on February 9.

She clarified that group sizes may be increased to up to 20 children, instead of the current limit of 18. "The serious situation regarding admissions is due to the restrictions imposed by the Ministry of Health for the coronavirus. If the restrictions are lifted or eased, the situation will change," Melkonyan said.

The deputy mayor explained that if the restrictions are eased, priority will be given to children who need to continue attending (approximately 3,000 in total), followed by those waiting to be admitted to the institution (around 12,000).
