The Issues of Emergency Buildings Are the Responsibility of Owners and the Government, Not the Municipality: Hayk Marutyan
The issue of emergency buildings is primarily the concern of the property owners residing in those buildings, as it pertains to their ownership of entrances and rooftops. This was stated by Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan during a session of the Yerevan City Council, responding to questions from council members Armen Nersisyan of the Prosperous Armenia faction and Ani Khachatryan.
Hayk Marutyan emphasized that if any government body needs to be involved, it is the Government itself: “Let’s note this—if those two (the owners and the Government) are unable or unwilling to take action, then we must decide whether or not to do something. Legally, we are not obligated to intervene, but through humanitarian means, or whatever name I should give it, we can take action. We do not have the authority or obligation to do so.”
