Priority Groups Established for Kindergarten Admissions
In accordance with the restrictions set by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic, admissions to kindergartens under the jurisdiction of Yerevan were not organized for the 2020-2021 academic year. This information is provided by the Yerevan City Hall.
At the same time, the number of children included in each group has also been limited. As a result, currently, around 3000 children have interrupted their preschool education and do not attend kindergarten, while the number of those on the waiting list exceeds 12000.
To potentially address this issue, the Yerevan City Hall has initiated discussions with state-authorized entities, as a result of which the restrictions will be partially eased.
Re-admission of children will be organized based on the following criteria: children who have interrupted their preschool education will be re-admitted to institutions that have the capacity to maintain safety conditions according to anti-epidemic measures. In this case, priority will be given to children whose parents have been killed during military operations, are first-category disabled, have a serious illness declaration, or have lost a parent.
Subsequently, among the existing age groups, priority will be provided to children whose both parents are registered as working.
Admission of children on the waiting list: Kindergartens that can maintain anti-epidemic security measures will also be able to organize the admission of children on the waiting list. In this case, priority will be given to children whose parents have been killed during military operations. Other children entitled to expedited admission will be accepted based on the sequence of their registration date.
Furthermore, according to existing age groups, the admission of children will be conducted in order of their registration. It is also important to inform that kindergartens that were renovated under the 2020 program will reopen soon, positively impacting the enrollment situation in kindergartens.
The Yerevan City Hall continues to maintain continuous communication with authorized entities. As the epidemiological situation improves, further easing of restrictions is expected, which will be communicated to the public.
