Court Allows Robert Kocharian to Sign Contracts for His Own Property

The judge of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, Anna Danibekyan, today allowed the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, to sign any contracts related to his confiscated property, except for alienation.

Danibekyan made this decision by granting a motion presented by Kocharian's lawyer, Hovhannes Khudoyan, in this regard. It is noteworthy that Kocharian is participating in the session.

“The court sees no obstacle to granting permission for contracts that do not entail the alienation of the seized real estate. The court decided to allow Robert Kocharian to sign any agreement regarding his confiscated property, which cannot lead to the alienation of that property,” said the judge.

However, Danibekyan noted that Khudoyan's motion indicated that Kocharian wishes to transfer the property for gratuitous use and custodial services. The judge inquired about the details. Khudoyan responded that he would like to present the details in a closed-session meeting.

The prosecutors in the case did not object to the presented motion. The court session is now continuing behind closed doors.
