Citizens Hand Over Assault Rifles, Firearms, Grenades, and Ammunition
Thanks to the explanatory efforts of the Goriss police, a 25-year-old man voluntarily surrendered a factory-numbered "Kalashnikov" assault rifle to the police on February 6, stating that he had brought it from Artsakh. A 60-year-old resident of Agarak also voluntarily handed over a "TOZ" type shotgun and over 200 rounds of various calibers and firearms at the Meghri police station, claiming he acquired them years ago and kept them in his garden.
A 55-year-old man from Malishka village voluntarily surrendered a factory-numbered "Kalashnikov" assault rifle, 60 rounds of ammunition, and magazines to the Yeghegnadzor police. Explanatory work was carried out with him by officers of the Vayots Dzor regional police administration. Incidents of voluntary surrender of illegally held weapons and ammunition have also been recorded in the territorial units of the Gegharkunik regional police.
Two men from Gavar and Tsovazart villages voluntarily handed over a "TOZ" type shotgun, a homemade pistol, an "F-1" type grenade with a fuse, and ammunition to the Gavar police. On February 5, three cases of voluntary surrender of illegally held weapons and ammunition were recorded at the Vardenis police station. Residents from the villages of Mets Masrik and Akunk brought in six grenades of different types, a homemade pistol, a "TOZ" type shotgun, and over 100 rounds of various calibers and firearms.
As a result of the explanatory efforts of the community police in Jambarak, a resident of Artanish village surrendered a firearm, an "F-1" type grenade with fuses, and over 70 rounds of various calibers. Thanks to the explanatory work of investigators in Artashat, a citizen left four grenades with fuses, a magazine of a loaded firearm with 30 rounds, and over 30 rounds of various calibers near the cemetery in Mrgavank village.
Similar incidents of voluntary surrender of illegally held weapons and ammunition were also recorded at the Vagarshapat, Akhuryan, and Mush police stations. As a result of the explanatory efforts, various types of grenades, grenade fuses, magazines for firearms, and over 100 rounds of ammunition of various calibers have been brought to the stations.
Forensic examinations have been appointed. It is reiterated that those who voluntarily surrender illegally held weapons and ammunition are exempt from criminal liability. The measures taken by the police continue in this direction.
