New Procedure for Foreign Citizens Entering Artsakh Territory in Effect, Says Artsakh Foreign Ministry
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh has released a statement announcing that due to security considerations, a new procedure for foreign citizens entering the territory of the Republic of Artsakh is now in effect in the post-war period.
“Foreign citizens wishing to visit the Republic of Artsakh must apply in advance to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh to obtain permission to enter Artsakh. This procedure applies both to foreign citizens who need to obtain an entry visa and to those from countries where a visa-free regime is in place.
Information regarding the applications will also be conveyed to the Russian peacekeeping forces, taking into account security considerations.
Upon approval of the requests, foreign citizens who have applied will be notified and will receive the relevant entry permits in Yerevan at the permanent representation of Artsakh, after which they can arrive in Artsakh.
As for the timing, relevant work is underway to improve the mechanism. Entry permissions will be granted within 3-4 working days; of course, sometimes the process may take longer, and the foreign citizen who submitted the application will be informed accordingly.
The mechanism is currently in the implementation phase. In recent days, several representatives from foreign media and international organizations have entered the Republic of Artsakh through this procedure,” the statement from the Artsakh Foreign Ministry said.
