January Sees 44.3% Increase in Oil Prices, 40.7% in Sugar, and 26.4% in Eggs

According to data released by the Statistical Committee, the twelve-month inflation rate in the Republic of Armenia as of January 2021 compared to January 2020 was 4.5%, and 2.2% compared to the previous month.

Comparing January 2021 to January 2020, there has been a significant increase in the prices of several food products and commodities in Armenia:

• Vegetable oil increased by 44.3%
• Sugar increased by 40.7%
• Egg prices increased by 26.4%
• Dairy products increased by 7.7%
• Fruits increased by 12%
• Vegetables increased by 9.9%
• Garlic surged by 95.4%
• Mixed greens increased by 53.5%
• Bread increased by 7.9%
• Flour increased by 12.5%
• Beverages and tobacco increased by 6.8%
• Non-food items increased by 5.5%

In contrast, meat prices experienced a slight decrease of 0.1%.
