I am sure that in the event of elections, 'My Step' would no longer have a majority in the National Assembly. Sofia Hovsepyan.

Following yesterday's meeting with Nikol Pashinyan, the 'My Step' faction issued a statement claiming there is no public demand for extraordinary elections. Several faction members began to announce that people were requesting not to hold extraordinary elections.

In an interview with ArmDaily.am, independent MP Sofia Hovsepyan noted that they should clarify what motivated that decision.
"The expression 'There is no public demand' is somewhat misleading, because which segment of the society's demand exists and which does not, so that we can understand how it is possible to speak in general terms and issue such a statement on behalf of certain layers of society. I am almost sure that the presented opinions by the MPs reflect the views of a certain mass of voters, which influenced the decision. At the same time, there is concern that the realities in the political field may change, and while they are still the majority, they can maintain and continue their activities," said Hovsepyan.

The MP emphasized that she is confident that the National Assembly's composition would change in the event of elections and that they would not form a majority.
"'Bright Armenia', as stated, does not agree to extraordinary elections as a political opposition, but I remember that Mr. Marukyan, although I do not recall the exact day and time, voiced the proposal to organize extraordinary elections, and I slightly disagree with the notion that there is no opposition demand for extraordinary elections. Perhaps it refers to the extra-parliamentary opposition, which was not very well received, but it is known that at least the leader of 'Bright Armenia' from the political opposition has spoken about this—and I am sure everyone in the National Assembly has heard it," Sofia Hovsepyan noted.

Addressing the deepening political crisis due to the cancellation of elections, the independent MP stated that there is no room for further deepening of the crisis.
"The crisis is already deep, the problems are already present; they are layered, and seriousness must be shown directly to be able to propose serious solutions to the trends facing the country and provide them," Hovsepyan concluded.
