12,000 Children Registered but Yet to Attend Kindergarten; Many Are Aging Out, Says Parent

There are children who have been waiting in line for 2 to 3 years. 12,000 children are registered but have not yet attended kindergarten, and many of these children are aging out. This was stated today by Lusine Sargsyan during an interview with reporters in front of the city hall, where she, along with a group of other parents, is protesting the inadequate organization of kindergarten admissions.

Lusine mentioned that there are more than 100 protesting parents present.

"It is very difficult for all of us to gather here because the mere fact that we have come here in such small numbers proves that parents do not have the opportunity to entrust their children to someone and participate in the action," said Lusine Sargsyan.

The city hall responded to the protesting parents through the mayor's press secretary, Hakob Karapetyan. In a conversation with reporters, he stated that the city hall is taking steps to increase the number of available spots in kindergartens.

"The relevant departments of the Yerevan city hall and the deputy mayor who coordinates this area have initiated discussions with the relevant agencies to find a solution to this issue, understanding the tension around it and the concerns of the parents," he emphasized.

The mayor's spokesperson added that when a clear decision is made as a result of these discussions, the city hall will share the information.
