Russia Lifts Import Restrictions on Tomatoes and Peppers from Armenia

At the beginning of this year, Russia had detected signs characteristic of the Pepino mosaic virus in tomatoes and peppers imported from 13 enterprises in the Armavir region, leading to the restriction of imports. To ascertain the presence of this disease, the Armenian State Service for Food Safety conducted ongoing monitoring, and the results were submitted to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor).

As a result of joint discussions, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance lifted the temporary restrictions on the supply of tomatoes and peppers starting February 5, 2021.
