Marukyan Addresses the Issue of Prisoners of War at European Parliament Conference
On February 4, an online conference was held in the European Parliament, initiated by the Renew Europe group, focusing on the prospects for developing beneficial cooperation between Eastern Partnership countries and the EU.
This was reported by Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the Bright Armenia faction in the National Assembly, who noted that he spoke on the crucial issue of the return of prisoners of war during this significant platform.
“The meeting was attended by High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, European Commission Vice President and Commissioner for Values and Transparency Vera Jourova, President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Hans van Baalen, President of the European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer, and European Commissioners for Energy Kadri Simson and Trade Valdis Dombrovskis. The Azerbaijani delegation also participated in the conference.
Discussing various issues related to bilateral cooperation, I addressed the challenges and threats arising from the Nagorno-Karabakh war and the trilateral statement signed on November 9, particularly emphasizing the need for the safe return of Armenian prisoners of war and captured civilians, as well as the necessity for support from European partners on this matter,” he wrote.
