Russian Ambassador Meets with Serzh Sargsyan at Initiative of Russian Side

The meeting between the head of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin, took place yesterday at the initiative of the Russian side, as reported by RPA Vice President Armen Ashotyan.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues related to the consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh war were discussed. President Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the Russian side for the efforts of the Russian leadership aimed at maintaining the ceasefire regime, addressing the humanitarian issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, and particularly emphasized the importance of the continuation of the Russian Federation's activity as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group for the final peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue based on fundamental principles, including the principle of self-determination of the people.

In the context of discussing the current situation, the importance of effective efforts to facilitate the return of prisoners of war and other individuals held in Azerbaijan, as well as the search for the bodies of fallen servicemen, was highlighted. At the ambassador's request, President Sargsyan also addressed issues related to the domestic political situation and the new geopolitical realities in the region. Ambassador Kopirkin, for his part, presented Russia's position and the efforts it is making within the framework of the discussed topics.
