Residents of Shurnukh and Vorotan Whose Homes Have Passed to Azerbaijan to Receive Assistance

The Armenian government approved a measure today, February 4, in its session aimed at providing assistance to residents in the Syunik region's Shurnukh and Vorotan communities whose homes have come under Azerbaijani control.

The decision states that the purpose of the measure is to provide social support to citizens (including children) registered at the addresses of residential properties in Shurnukh and Vorotan, which are now under Azerbaijani control, or who are actually residing there but are registered at different addresses within the same community, on the condition that they have lived there for at least the last three months prior to September 27, 2020, according to a certificate provided by the community leader.

The social support will be granted in two forms: 1) a one-time cash assistance of 300,000 drams for each beneficiary, to be distributed within 10 working days after the decision is made; 2) a monthly cash payment of 68,000 drams per beneficiary for six months, starting from the month this measure is approved. 3) Financial assistance for minor children who are beneficiaries will be provided to their parent or guardian if guardianship has been established for the child.
