You Continue to Engage in Judicial Reform 'Patching': Samsonyan to Minister

Last year, we discussed a large package of reforms to the Judicial Code, we have discussed countless times how to implement these reforms, but you continue to engage in judicial reform 'patching,' said Ani Samsonyan, a member of the 'Bright Armenia' faction, addressing the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Rustam Badasyan.

"I want to understand—are we going to continue summoning emergency sessions like this for a long time, or making piecemeal changes during the regular sessions and filling our agenda with such 'patching'?" Samsonyan asked.

In response, Minister Rustam Badasyan stated that he disagrees with the MP's assessments. According to him, all actions stem from the logic of the strategy and the action plan. "We have said that in the judicial system, apart from the mechanisms for verifying integrity, there is also the issue of system overload, and we have a significant problem in raising public confidence in the judicial system. If you have an alternative model, I suggest you present a legislative initiative that will not be 'patching'," the minister said.

"It seems that these actions are not based on strategy, but rather on, for example, the political processes taking place in the country," responded Samsonyan.
