Video: Akhaltsikhe Residents Hold Protest Again
According to akhaltskha.net, residents find it incomprehensible why the air border between Armenia and Georgia is open, while the land border remains closed. During a meeting with the Mayor of Akhaltsikhe, one participant informed the mayor that they are unable to pay bank loans, and the value of potatoes is depreciating day by day.
According to him, they are willing to spend two weeks in quarantine if Georgia opens its border with Armenia and Russia. The protesters stated that if their demands are not met, they will gather again in a week.
It is worth noting that a similar protest took place on January 31. The closed borders in Georgia due to the coronavirus pandemic are creating serious problems for the people. In Javakheti, where there are mostly no job opportunities, a significant portion of the population relies on work abroad for their livelihood.
