Over 1000 Detained During Protests Following Navalny's Trial and Sentencing, 828 in Moscow

On February 2, during protests in Moscow related to the trial of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny and following the announcement of his sentencing, a total of 1012 individuals have been detained, according to reports from RBC citing data published by the human rights organization 'OVD-Info.'

The majority of those arrested, 828 individuals, are from Moscow, with approximately 350 being detained near the courthouse. Following the court’s decision to imprison Navalny, his supporters blocked various streets in central Moscow, attempting to halt traffic.

According to the RBC news channel, police have arrested citizens participating in the protests in central areas of the Russian capital. The detentions started near the Kremlin. Following police orders, the following Moscow Metro stations were closed: 'Revolution Square,' 'Alexandrovsky Garden,' 'Theater,' and several others. Security forces also blocked the entrance to a shopping center known as 'Okhotny Ryad.'

Demonstrators have also been arrested in several other streets across Moscow.
