If Azerbaijanis obstruct, the Armenian side will create obstacles for Azerbaijani cargoes, says Simonian
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, stated in an interview with ArmDaily.am that Armenia will only benefit from the unblocking of communications. He emphasized that the unblocking will not be just with Armenia, but with the world, as Armenia is currently completely blocked.
In response to our question regarding how much we can ensure the safety of cargo passing through Azerbaijan’s territory, he said that if they obstruct, the Armenian side will also create obstacles for Azerbaijani cargoes.
“Whoever spoke about the corridor, whether the Prime Minister or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has repeatedly stated that there is no provision about the corridor in the agreement,” stated Simonian.
Addressing the 18 prisoners transferred to Azerbaijan the day before, the Deputy Speaker stressed that this is not an act of generosity on Armenia's part, but a policy of faithfully adhering to agreements. “The issue of the prisoners is a continuous process, and soon we will complete it in the near future, and all our prisoners will return. Just a few days ago, five people returned, and I believe that very soon we will resolve this issue,” said Simonian.
Commenting on Robert Kocharyan’s statement about participating in early elections with his own candidate and winning, Alen Simonian informed that Kocharyan’s chances of winning are very low, as the public remembers well the period of his leadership, and his negative image is deeply rooted in people’s minds.
Regarding the statement by former Armenian ambassador to the Vatican, Mikael Minasian, about dismantling the Defense Army of Artsakh, Simonian retorted that recently many have been expressing ridiculous ideas with a serious face.
