The Entry of Peacekeepers Stabilized the Situation: Stanislav Zas
Russian peacekeepers have stabilized the situation in the South Caucasus region. This opinion was expressed by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas during an online press briefing.
The primary challenge for the CSTO in the Caucasus region has been the military operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. This has been the most extensive and bloodiest clash in the post-Soviet space in recent times, involving heavy armaments, multiple rocket systems, tanks, aviation, and drones.
“As you know, thanks to Russia's mediation, we have managed to halt the bloodshed and prevent a greater tragedy. The ceasefire and the entry of Russian peacekeepers into Karabakh have stabilized the situation in the conflict zone and, in general, in the South Caucasus,” Zas stated.
According to him, the agreements reached create the necessary conditions for the long-term and comprehensive resolution of the crisis around Artsakh.
