Manvel Grigoryan's Security Chief's Home Robbed Twice, Gas Station Set Ablaze

The relatives of Nahapet Tumanyan, the chief of security for former commander of the Territorial Defense Volunteer Union and General Manvel Grigoryan, have long been unable to get a satisfactory answer from the police regarding multiple criminal incidents that occurred in the village of Yeraskhahun.

In a conversation with Shamshyan.com on February 1, Tumanyan's brother stated, "When Manvel Grigoryan was arrested, there were attempts to pursue Nahapet as well. However, lacking any evidence, the case has not been concluded yet. After Manvel's arrest, my brother also became a target. In June and then in August 2018, my brother's house was robbed. We approached the Armavir police; they came, inspected, recorded the incident, and affirmed that it was a matter of honor for them to solve the case, since it was a fighter's home that was robbed. They have yet to solve it. At the end of last December, a combat grenade was thrown at the house, fortunately, it did not explode. In this case, police came, recorded, and deactivated the grenade through special teams.

They also promised that solving this case was a matter of honor for them, yet like the previous thefts, this case also remains unsolved. On September 22 of last year, there was an attempt to set fire to the gas station owned by Nahapet, operational since the 1990s. Fortunately, villagers saw it and informed us; we managed to extinguish the fire before the firefighters arrived. However, we incurred damages amounting to several million. Once again, police came, looked, inspected, and promised it was a matter of honor. Yet, this case remains unsolved as well. We have lost hope that these incidents will be solved. If a person, driven by social need, steals a chicken, he is found within days, if not hours. They publicize it saying, 'Look, the police have caught the chicken thief,’ but in these cases, we keep hearing familiar phrases, 'It’s a matter of honor; we will find them.' We don’t know who else to turn to for uncovering these crimes. If the regional police chief and the local police commander are unable to investigate these criminal acts, it would be better for them to tell us not to contact them in case of similar incidents in the future."
