David Galstyan, known as 'Patron Davo', to be arrested

The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, presided over by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, has just approved the National Security Service's (NSS) request to arrest David Galstyan.

It is reminded that the NSS has charged David Galstyan, better known by the nickname 'Patron Davo', and has applied to the court for his arrest. The criminal case concerns abuses related to arms supply to the Ministry of Defense.

According to the NSS, David G., the president of a company registered abroad, along with A.B., the director of the same company, entered into an agreement with the Ministry of Defense to supply artillery shells of the corresponding caliber manufactured between 1983 and 1986 to the General Staff during 2018. After signing the contract, by concealing the fact that the supplied goods did not meet the tactical and technical specifications, they deceitfully delivered older shells manufactured in 1977, worth 1.083 million dollars, to the ministry.

According to law enforcement, these shells significantly lag behind the required artillery shells in terms of tactical and technical characteristics. Specifically, they did not ensure the effective range for hitting targets and did not match the physical characteristics of the shells for artillery available to the Ministry of Defense, as well as the parameters of the mountain artillery firing tables in the armed forces. Therefore, it was impossible to solve combat tasks using the delivered shells. Based on the signed contract, an amount of 1 million 83 thousand dollars was transferred to the company.

The director of the company has also been charged in this case, and the NSS has approached the court for his arrest as well. Earlier, it was reported that David Galstyan was charged with large-scale embezzlement and is involved in four criminal cases.
