140 Houses in Artsakh's Taghavut Village Under Adversary Control Due to War

As a result of the war, 140 houses in the village of Taghavut in the Martuni region of Artsakh are now under the control of the adversary. This was reported by Oleg Harutyunyan, the head of the Taghavut community, in a conversation with Armenpress, adding that 520 residents of Taghavut have been rendered homeless as a result of the conflict.

“Most of them have been relocated to various settlements in Artsakh, while 20 families have moved to the Republic of Armenia. In the part of Taghavut that remains under Artsakh’s control, about 149 houses are left. Almost all of them have been damaged due to shelling, and 5 houses have been completely destroyed,” Harutyunyan explained.

Nearly all residents of this part of Taghavut, about 90%, have returned to their homes. One of the village schools has come under enemy control, while another school, located in the part of the village under our control, currently has 140 students attending from the Red Market and Taghavut.

Around 70% of Taghavut’s agricultural lands, including orchards and pastures, are also under Azerbaijani control. We now have approximately 120 hectares of arable land where farmers have sown autumn crops and are preparing for spring planting. Additionally, under enemy control remain the 18th-century Church of the Holy Savior, one of the school buildings, and the cemetery,” the head of the Taghavut community noted, adding that prior to the war, the village had 289 houses with a population of 1,314.
