What Were the Discussions Between Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu?

On February 1, at the initiative of the Russian side, a phone conversation took place between the Minister of Defense of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan and the Minister of Defense of Russia, General Sergey Shoigu.

The leaders of the defense departments of the strategic allied countries discussed the results of the staff negotiations on the directions of Armenian-Russian bilateral military cooperation that took place last week, as well as the progress in addressing Armenia's security issues in the post-war period.

Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan expressed satisfaction with the activities of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, noting that the best testament to their effectiveness is the near-complete observance of the ceasefire. Thanks to this, there have been no significant emergencies recorded during the previous months of December and January, with the exception of the wounding of one soldier of the Artsakh Defense Army.

Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Sergey Shoigu also discussed issues related to regional developments.
