VIDEO: 'The country must remember such people.' Putin attended the ceremony honoring Yeltsin

Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers at Boris Yeltsin's grave on February 1. As reported by Komsmolskaya Pravda, Putin stated that the country must remember individuals like the first president of Russia.

"In hindsight, everyone is wise, but when events accumulate like a snowball, that's an entirely different situation. Boris Nikolayevich never shied away from responsibility. That was what distinguished him; he never feared to take on responsibility for both his actions and the fate of the country," emphasized Vladimir Putin, adding that he too would never forget about Yeltsin.

The Russian leader recalled that Yeltsin led the country during one of the most challenging periods in history when the existence of Russia as an independent, unified, and integral country was at stake.

It should be noted that today, ceremonies honoring Yeltsin's 90th anniversary took place in Moscow.
